Leadership and Empowerment for Women

The ACF has always placed the gender dimension at the heart of its initiatives and it is with the aim of contributing to better empowerment of women in the art and culture sector that we have decided to set up the LEWO PROGRAM AFRICA (Leadership & Empowerment for Women in Africa) in order to strengthen their leadership and managerial skills. It is in continuation of the ACF ACADEMY program that we launched on March 13, 2023, the implementation of the LEWO AFRICA program for 50 women from the African cultural sector. The LEWO AFRICA program is three-year and aims to stimulate and strengthen the competitiveness of female arts professionals, through the organization of a boot camp each year until 2025, in three regions of the continent (West Africa, Africa Eastern and Southern Africa) including: – capacity building sessions in cultural management, leadership, personal branding, digital marketing, and even financial education; – artistic creation residencies. At the end of the boot camps, the ACF will grant a scholarship of 2,000 euros to each of the winners to give a boost to their career and their development will be monitored for a year in the form of coaching and mentoring, provided by great managers and leaders from all regions of Africa. The first LEWO AFRICA boot camp took place from March 13 to 25, 2023 in the creative city of Ségou in Mali. It brought together 15 visual artists and cultural entrepreneurs from West and Central Africa. ​
